Joris Verdoodt is a graphic designer based in Gent, Belgium. He is often working for (but not limiting to) cultural institutions and organizations, individual artists, architects, musicians and publishers. He has a strong interest in taking on assignments that require a content-first approach in close collaboration and dialogue with the client.

Since 2015 he is collaborating with Mathieu Serruys as studio Serruys-Verdoodt, occasionally still doing solo projects or collaborations with other designers. In addition to all kinds of printed matter, the design and development of websites is also an important branch in the studio.

Besides working for clients, he is co-running B.A.A.D.M., a publishing platform for experimental music with a strong interest in the interaction between artist modus operandi and an environment of alternate worldview. He is also teaching graphic design at LUCA School of Arts, and part of Art Cinema OFFoff, a platform for experimental film and audiovisual art.

Opéra Mort – Film Works

As part of the 2016 festival Night of the Experimental Film (curated by B.A.A.D.M. for Art Cinema OFFoff), French duo Opéra Mort performed a live soundtrack for two films that centre on the paradoxical symbiosis of love and death: The Potted Psalm by Sidney Peterson and James Broughton, and Dream Work by Peter Tscherkassky. With ‘Film Works’, the duo have adapted their soundtrack into a standalone recorded work.
